A Patio Room Can Make Your Deck Far More Enjoyable!
October 19, 2009Last month our company, Creative Enclosures, completed a wonderful patio room enclosure for our clients Tony & Ann Dequattro in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Tony & Ann live in a new home in a newly built neighborhood not far from the beach.
Tony is very particular about his home and landscaping and keeps his property meticulous. He shared with me that he was able to get left over turf from Yankee Stadium which he had installed in and around his property and yard. I don’t need to tell you, but knowing that we had to build their patio room enclosure and access it by walking on his Yankee Stadium grass made us a bit nervous. However, as a specialty sunroom, conservatory, patio room remodeler we work very hard at insuring the safety and cleanliness of our clients property. I’m happy to say upon the completion of the Dequattro’s patio room/sunroom their grass looked just as good as when we arrived!
Take a minute and look at the before and after photos below of the Dequattro’s home. They had a small deck that they found they were only able to use a few months of the year. They expressed they wanted a space they could extend and use four seasons. After understanding their needs and wants we actually enlarge their existing deck by approximately three feet and then enclosed it with a cathedral style patio room with a sliding door in the front wall.

From the photo you can see that the patio room/sunroom blends very well with their home and is a seamless transition from the old to the new. The interior height is approximately 10’ to the peak which I remember Ann saying her Christmas tree will fit and look great out there.
The most satisfying element for all of us at Creative Enclosures is that we helped another client live better at the same address! I welcome your thoughts, comments and questions!

What is Design-Build?
In the construction industry, the term Design-Build is a designation where a single firm coordinates the architectural and engineering design phase with the actual construction of a particular project. The primary benefits of this approach are the efficiency and accountability that result from having one firm oversee the entire process. As a design-build firm, Creative Enclosures’ has assembled a solid team of qualified design consultants that provide our clients with well-thought-out design plans that integrate well with the specialized responsibilities of our experienced construction professionals. Each project is thoroughly reviewed to ensure that both our “design” consultants and “build” contractors are on the same page, providing for a seamless design and construction schedule and process. Team work is critical to the success of any design-build project.

The Design-Build Process
At Creative Enclosures, the first step in a traditional design-build process is to have one of our design professionals meet with a prospective customer. At this meeting, we review what type of project our customer is interested in, the location of the proposed project, what the budget is and any specific challenges that may relate to the project. After our meeting, our design professionals will develop a plan for the new addition, sunroom, deck or renovation. Upon review of the proposed design with our contractors, our design staff will set up a second meeting with our customer to review the proposed design and discuss any changes. Once the project design is approved by our customer and the budget has also been approved as well as any required financing, our production staff will proceed with acquiring the necessary permits and supplies, and will begin the construction process.

Matthew Ostrowski, owner of Creative Enclosures LLC, has received The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation. This designation recognizes builders and remodelers who incorporate green principles into their projects — without driving up the projects total investment. Class work leading to this designation provides a solid background in current green building methods and the required tools to provide valuable green building solutions for homeowners looking for more earth-friendly remodeling options.
In 1998, Matthew received the designation of Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) from the NAHB and keeps this important designation up-to-date through on-going industry education. As a reflection of the quality craftsmanship provided by Matt and staff, Creative Enclosures LLC won a valued “The Big 50” ranking from Remodeler Magazine for one of their sunroom projects.
